My Buddy & Kid Sister

After we had our first two girls I was pretty sure we were done.
They were two years apart and things were crazy busy with two little ones.
The youngest, at the time, was/is a major busy body and dare devil .
She climbed on everything, threw tantrums like nobodies business, and gave me heart attacks on a daily basis because she just had no fear.
She even managed a trip to the ER before she was two as a result of her craziness.
Needless to say, I was pretty sure two girls was it for me.
Yup.
I was done.
I sold our baby gear at a yard sale said sayonara to late night feedings, diapers, strollers and highchairs.
I was sooooo done.
Well,  ummmm obviously I was wrong.
When I finally came around and we had our third daughter our older girls were seven and five.
So there is quite the gap between them, nothing like the two years separating the older two.
I worried that our youngest would be a lone traveler, the tag-along straggler and not be as close as our older girls.
But I was wrong about that too.
(Only two times in my life I have been wrong. I just want to clarify that.)
So if you were a child of the 80’s you may remember My Buddy and Kid Sister dolls?
Ohhhh, how I wanted one.
And no doubt about it, I can still sing (most) of the slogan like I heard it yesterday.
So why did I bring up a random childhood dream toy?
Well, while taking photos of my oldest and youngest yesterday I couldn’t help but sing it.
My Buddy, My Buddy,
My Buddy, My Buddy,
Wherever I go, he goes.
My Buddy, My Buddy,
My Buddy, My Buddy,
I’ll teach him everything that I know.
My Buddy and me, Like to climb up a tree.
My buddy and me, We’re the best friends that could be.
My Buddy, My Buddy,
My Buddy, My Buddy,
My Buddy and Me.
Kid Sister, Kid Sister,
Kid Sister, Kid Sister,
Where ever I go, you’re gonna go.
Kid Sister, Kid Sister,
Kid Sister, Kid Sister,
Kid Sister and Me!
And just in case you’re in need of a flashback, I found this:
(You can thank me later for this song sticking in your head for the remainder of the day.)
P.S.
Did you have a My Buddy or Kid Sister doll?
I didn’t, but I remember how much I wanted one! After watching the commercial I can’t help but think they look more like Chucky then a friendly play mate. Maybe my mom did me a favor.

I had a Kid Sister! But, I sort of remember being disappointed by her. The Cabbage Patch doll always won out as favorite. I think your girls’ kid sister is so much better than the doll! 🙂

Your the first person I have heard that had one. 🙂 I had a cabbage patch doll too! The fact that it had a birth certificate and a diaper was sooo awesome to me! 🙂
